Abstract

Sinaloa is one of the most important agricultural entities in the country, it is a producer and exporter of grains, vegetables and cucurbits. Among the pests that can reduce yields by damaging the root system of crops in the region are beetle larvae known as " white grubs". The third instar larva and the pupa of Hybosorus illigeri Reiche, 1853, are described for the first time, with specimens from the municipality of El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico, in soils cultivated with watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad), cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. ), and sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) sesame, seasonal. Illustrations of the characteristic structures and comments on the differences with the larva of Hybosorus orientalis Westwood, 1845 are included. From the collected larvae it was possible to obtain the pupa and the adult. The larva of H. illiger can be differentiated from other larvae by presenting the tibia of the mesothoracic legs with 8 conical teeth and the palidium is made up of 23-25 palis.
