Abstract

Bruchids are beetles known as “weevils”, whose larvae feed on legume seeds. Sometimes, they are a problem in the
food sector when they affect the seeds, especially in their germination process. In the present work, we collected pods
from the Cercis canadensis L. tree belonging to the Fabaceae family in the municipality of Pinal de Amoles, Querétaro.
The aim was to determine the bruchids species collected in these seeds, besides providing information on the damage
when they are on the host plant. From this study derives the first record of Gibbobruchus mimus (Say, 1831), associated with the tree C. canadensis for the state of Querétaro.
