Abstract
The white grubs belong to the soil fauna and become to be considered plague insects, because of their rhizophagous eating habits, also there was reported that white grubs could be beneficial due to their contribution to aeration and conversion of organic material to soil. The objective of this work is to conduct the determination of the species that make up the complex of white grubs associated with ornamental grasses, as well as their eating habits. There were performed soil collections for one month to obtain the larvae in the ornamental grasses, the period was during October to November 2021; and the larvae were bred in the laboratory until they become in adult. Besides adults were collected, attracted with a mercury-vapor lamp during May to June from 20:00 to 21:30 hrs. There were obtained larvae of Phyllophaga vetula, Phyllophaga macrocera, Paranomala cincta y Cyclocephala barrerai, and the adults that were collected were Phyllophaga ravida, Phyllophaga misteca, Phyllophaga vetula, Phyllophaga macrocera Phyllophaga xanthe y Phyllophaga brevidens Paranomala cincta, Cyclocephala barrerai, Diplotaxis trapezifera, Euphoria vestita y Ligyrus sallei, Phyllophaga is bracket with rhizophagous habits in their larval period causing damage to the ornamental grasses ́s roots in the gardens. A diversity index of 1.59 was calculated.
